CDR Meek graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in March 1996 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering.  He received his commission as an Ensign in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps in July 1996 upon graduation from Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, FL.

CDR Meek’s first assignment was at Naval Air Facility Adak, Alaska where he served for one year as an Assistant Resident Officer in Charge of Construction administering the caretaker site contract during the facility’s closure.  In December 1997 he reported to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion THREE homeported in Port Hueneme, CA and deployed to Guam for seven months and to Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian where the Seabees built Camp Monteith for peacekeepers.

Following his tour with the Seabees, CDR Meek reported to the Naval War College in Newport, RI as the Assistant Director for Facilities in November 1999.  In December 2000, he reported to Atlanta, GA to serve as the Executive Assistant to the Commander, Engineering Field Activity ATLANTIC/Deputy Commander, SECOND Naval Construction Brigade.

In June 2002, CDR Meek transferred to Public Works Center Washington in the Washington Navy Yard and served as Department Head for both Materials and Utilities.  In February 2003, CDR Meek augmented the I MEF Engineer Group (MEG) in Kuwait and Iraq for a six month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In June 2004, CDR Meek reported to Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, graduating in December 2005 with a Master of Business Administration degree.  CDR Meek reported to Defense Acquisition University, West Region in Port Hueneme, CA where he served as the Deputy Chair, Contracting Department.

From May 2007 until August 2009, CDR Meek served as the Operations Officer, 30th Naval Construction Regiment; deploying to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Balikatan 2009 where the 30th NCR commanded the Joint Civil-Military Operations Task Force.  In homeport, he sustained Seabee Pacific Theater operations and construction support.

In August 2009, CDR Meek assumed duties as Assistant Public Works Officer, Naval Station Norfolk, supporting fleet operations and training through optimal shore installation management.  In August 2011, CDR Meek reported to the “Submarine Capital of the World” as the Public Works Officer, PWD New London, CT where he and his team supports 15 homeported fast attack submarines and 70 US Naval Submarine Base New London tenants.

Commander Meek is Seabee Combat Warfare and Fleet Marine Force qualified, has completed Phase I JPME education, is a registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is a member of the DoD Acquisition Corps.  CDR Meek is married to the former Ms. Eve Marhafer of Schenectady, NY and has two sons:  Gordie (8) and Andrew (6).
